After serving the community for over four decades at our affiliate, the Garden Terrace Nursing Home, the Flemming Family opened the Victorian Garden Adult Day
Center in March, 1995 and was recently awarded the “Family Business of the Year” by New Jersey Monthly Magazine.
Victorian Garden is a private, social day center located at 353 Main Street in Chatham. Our traditional, historical, elegant setting invites warmth, caring and dignity to all. Our families often refer to us as the “Club”—a very special place for very special people.
Our Mission is to provide our clients the opportunity for companionship and socialization in a stimulating, safe and supportive environment. By offering our families an alternative caregiving resource, participants are able to remain part of the community. Families receive encouragement, support and education as they face their roles as caregivers.
Our program provides health care monitoring by a registered nurse, as well as access to other health care professionals including a dietitian, social worker and podiatrist.
Carefully planned activities and cultural outings based on individual interests and assessments encompass “the heart” of our day. Whether enjoying exercises, a trip to the Papermill Playhouse, an art therapy project, singing and dancing with one of our entertainers, or a warm conversation with their friends, there is always an activity being offered to satisfy everyone’s interests.
Our staff has been carefully selected and trained to meet the needs of each individual client and to support family and friends as they cope with their role as a caregiver. Our client to staff ratio is 5 to 1.
Our Patchwork Quilt Program, a specialized program for Alzheimer’s and other related memory impairments, provides a unique level of programming.
Although the Center is private-pay facility, financial arrangements for individual assistance is available. Victorian Garden is approved under the Statewide Respite Program by the Visiting Nurse Association. We also are funded by CCPED, a community-based Medicaid program. Our families are also informed of other financial sources available such as the Alzheimer’s Grant.
Our convenient location, our own transportation services, our home-cooked meals and our twenty-four hour access to senior staff also encompass “…our home away from home.”
The Flemming Family is committed to the celebration of life and preservation of senior dignity and independence by providing quality “Days at the Center with Friends, and helping to preserve restful and enjoyable… Nights at Home with Family.”
